Funraise enables you to send emails to lists of supporters or automate email journeys based on donor and fundraiser activity. This article covers the basic concepts, terminology, and provides links to in-depth articles to dig deeper.
Blast vs. Automated email campaigns
There are two types of Email Campaigns in Funraise: Blast and Automated.
Blast Email Campaigns are emails that are sent to a filtered list of Supporters, Transactions, Fundraisers, Registrations, or Subscriptions. With Blast emails you can send personalized emails in bulk to highly customized segments.
Automated Email Campaigns are prebuilt email journeys for common communication touch points with donors and fundraisers. You can configure your Automated Email Campaigns by activating or deactivating specific emails and editing the content and design of the email templates. You can not create your own Automated Email Campaigns (yet!).

Both blast and automated emails send customizable email templates. You can customize email templates with images, content, and personalization data merge tags.

You can view an individual supporter's email history from their Supporter profile. With Fundraising Intelligence, you can create data dashboards and custom reports to analyze your email performance.
Email campaign sending limits and costs
The cost to send Campaign Emails from Funraise is based on your plan.

What counts as a billable Campaign Email?
Not all emails sent from Funraise count against your monthly limits or incur costs.
Campaign Emails are emails you choose to send to your supporters. Campaign Emails count against your monthly limit or incur a cost. Campaign Emails include:
Automated Campaign Emails
Blast Campaign Emails
Yearly Donation Summary (when sent from within platform)
Transactional Emails or emails you do not specifically choose or configure to send to your supporters are not Campaign Emails. Transactional Emails do not count against your monthly limits or incur a cost. A few examples of Transactional Emails include:
Transaction receipts
Fundraiser verification
Event ticket confirmations
Yearly Donation Summary (sent by donors via the Donor Portal)
⚠️ A maximum of 50,000 Campaign Emails can be sent per day
Regardless of your email plan, a maximum of 50,000 Campaign Emails can be sent per day. Any attempted sends over 50,000 in a day will be dropped and will not be sent.
The maximum daily send limit is not related to your billing plan
It's important to note that all plans have a sending limit of 50,000 emails per day. A live daily usage meter in platform will display your daily email usage. This meter is unrelated to your billing plan — the daily send limit meter should only be used to see daily usage in relation to the absolute maximum sends available to you in a day.
