πŸ€— New to Funraise emails?

This article covers the campaign email editor specifically. If you're new to email in Funraise, we recommend starting at Email Campaigns 101.

πŸ₯Έ Things look different?

If your account looks different than described below, it means you're using our legacy email tools. Contact us to learn more about upgrading.

Email Campaign templates

Your Email Campaigns contain one or more email templates. Email templates are the individual emails that can be sent from this campaign. You can access your email templates inside your bulk campaigns or automated campaigns.

Access the editor for one of your existing emails or click New Email to create a new email template.

Inside the email editor, you'll see a preview of your email to the right and the content configurations to the left.

Campaign email configurations

Each campaign email template enables you to configure the content and design for the email.

πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈ Start with a previous email design

You can clone any existing email template. We recommend creating a general template and then cloning that template for each new email you create to keep your email design consistent. Copy a previous email tempalte from Actions > Autofill from another Template

Description

Email Name

The email name is a helpful internal label. We recommend using a short and clear email name. The email name can be referenced when creating email performance reports.

Subject

Add a subject line to this email. You can also use data merge tags in a subject line.

From Address

This is the sender and reply-to email address. You can select from any Organization email addresses you have added in Settings.

Header Image

Add an image to the top of your email. You can also provide a link for this image. We recommend an image width of ~1000px, no larger than 150 KB. Yes, you can exceed 150KB, but for emails, it's best to optimize for smaller file size.

Overall Background Color

This is the background color of the email. In most cases, we recommend white.

Text Area Background Color

This is the background color of the text box. In most cases, we recommend white.

Body Text β€”Β Template Type

Use the standard text editor by selecting Customizable template or use your own HTML template by selecting Code Your Own.

Body Text β€” Text Area

Enter your email body text.

Good to know

  • You can use data merge tags in the email body.

  • If you copy and paste text into this area, your styles may be copied over as well, which can include the text background color. You may want to paste without styles, for example: COMMAND + SHIFT + V on Mac, and then style in Funraise's editor.

  • You can add images to the body of the email, although this will require you to host the image externally and then provide a link to that media file.

Button

Add a button to the email and edit the button styles. The button will always appear below your email body text. You can use data merge tags in your button.

Footer Logo

Add a logo to the footer of your email.

Footer Text Color

This is where your address and organization name appear, which are often required when sending emails. You can edit the text color to make sure it has enough contrast with your email background color.

Send a test email

After you've configured your content and design, you can send a test email. From the email editor > Actions > Send test email.

Test emails will use placeholder content for most data merge tags.

Set an email as active or inactive

You can toggle an email template between Inactive or Active. An active email can be sent in automated or bulk email campaigns. An inactive email will not send in automations and is not available to send as a bulk campaign.

Sending an email

If the email is part of an automated email campaign, you can activate the email and it will send based on the automation rules.

If the email is part of a bulk email campaign, you can send the email to a specific list in the platform: a filtered list of Supporters, Transactions, Fundraisers, Subscriptions, or Registrations. Learn more about sending a bulk email to a filtered list.
