Learn how to send SMS messages to supporters or event attendees

SMS messages can be sent to a single Supporter or to a list of Supporters, Transactions, or Registrations.


Send to a single Supporters

  1. Click Actions (3 dots) and select Send SMS Message

  2. Enter a message and click Send


Send to list of Supporters

  1. From Supporters, add filters to define your list

  2. Click Actions (3 dots) and select Send SMS Message

  3. Enter a message and click Send


Send to list of Transactions

When sending an SMS message from Transactions, the Supporter linked to a Transaction will receive the message.

  1. From Transactions, add filters to define your list

  2. Click Actions (3 dots) and select Send SMS Message

  3. Enter a message and click Send


Send to list of Registrations

When sending an SMS message from Registrations, the Supporter linked to a Registration will receive the message.

  1. From Registrations, add filters to define your list

  2. Click Actions (3 dots) and select Send SMS Message

  3. Enter a message and click Send


☝️ Do not split messages. Only send a single message at a time. Because messages are queued to send, messages may not be sent in the exact order you submit them.

☝️ Be aware of your send limits. The base send limit is 200 messages per 24 hours. Any attempted messages over your limit will not be sent. Contact us to upgrade your sending limits.


Good to know

  • You may want to filter your supporter lists by Phone > Exists to refine the list to just supporters that have a phone number.

  • If a supporter replies to your message, you will be able to view the response on their supporter profile

  • For inbound SMS responses from a supporter, if a team member is assigned to the supporter, the assigned team member will also receive an email notification with the SMS message details

  • Data merge tags can be used in an outbound SMS message. Remember, context for merge tags is important — only use merge tags that are applicable to SMS messages (Dates, Organization Data, and Supporter Data)
