Funraise App | In-person payments and payment method captures

Run in-person payments and capture payment methods during your event check in.

The Funraise mobile app can be used to capture payment methods during event check in and can run in-person live payments. These features of the app require some additional setup and hardware.

Activate payments in the Funraise app

1. Activate Stripe Terminal

  1. In Funraise platform > access Settings > Integrations

  2. Find Stripe Terminal > Click Edit (pencil icon)

  3. Toggle the integration on > Click Save

Good to know

  • Don't see Stripe Terminal in your integration list, let us know!

  • You must have a Stripe gateway connected with Funraise to use Stripe Terminal

2. Purchase a Stripe reader device (Stripe Reader M2)

You’ll use the Stripe Reader M2 device to collect in-person payments and capture payment methods through the Funraise App. You can purchase a card reader from Stripe. You'll need Stripe's Stripe Reader M2 — this is the only reader that can be used with the Funraise app.

  1. Log into your Stripe Dashboard

  2. Click Payments > Readers > Shop

  3. Purchase the Stripe Reader M2

3. Connect a Stripe Reader M2 to Funraise App

Card readers use Bluetooth technology to connect to your device. Make sure Bluetooth is active on your device!

  1. Turn ON the card reader device

  2. Open the Funraise App

  3. Open the side menu and tap New Transaction

  4. In the top bar, tap Reader

  5. Select the card reader you would like to pair

👍 If you attempt a transaction or a payment method capture without a connected Stripe Reader M2 device, you'll receive helpful prompts with instructions to connect a device.

☝️ Charge your reader devices

Make sure your reader devices are fully charged before your event starts.

Creating payments and capturing payment methods

During event check in you can capture a payment method and store that method for the supporter. This flow is detailed in our Event Check In article.

To run a a live payment, click New Transaction in the app menu. You'll be guided through an intuitive payment flow. This payment flow is detailed below:

Enter a payment amount

Payment details

  • Select or add a Supporter

  • Select a Giving Form

  • Select a Campaign Site (optional)

  • Mark as anonymous (optional)

Time to swipe the card!

Tap, Swipe, or Insert the card to finalize the payment.

Confirmation

You'll receive a notification that the payment was conducted successfully.
