Automatic Household Creation

This article details how to manage Households, but it's important to start by understanding the criteria for their automated creation.

Rules for automated Household connection or creation
A complete physical address is required to automate Household connection or creation. We use the following criteria to determine a Complete Address: Street, Country, City, State OR Street, Country, Postal.

To CREATE a Household

  1. Navigate to Supporters > Households, from the side menu

  2. Click New Household

  3. Enter the Household Name and Salutation

  4. Select the Primary Supporter

  5. Select the Transaction Attribution method for the Primary Supporter’s Transactions*

  6. Select the Households Preferred Address**

  7. Enter the required fields and click Create

*When creating a new Household, you'll select how the Primary Supporter’s Transactions are to be associated with the New Household. Options include: attribute all Transactions, attribute no Transactions, or only attribute Transactions not currently associated with another Household.

**The Preferred Address can be selected from already existing Addresses associated with the Primary Supporter.

To MERGE a Household

  1. Navigate to Supporters > Households, from the side menu

  2. Find the Household you desire to merge, click the actions menu (3 dots), and select Merge Household

  3. Select the Merge *Loser*

  4. Click Merge

*The Merge Loser will be deleted. Supporters, Transactions, Addresses, and Notes from the Merge Loser will be added to the Merge Winner.

To DELETE a Household

  1. Navigate to Supporters > Households, from the side menu

  2. Find the Household you desire to delete, click the actions menu (3 dots), and select Delete Household
