In the March release notes, we've got a lot to cover: two entirely new features, commitments and in-platform payment processing, as well as several upcoming enhancements, like ticket promo codes and improved visibility into processing fees.
These release notes also include important details about changes to Donors Cover Fees.
What's new
Commitments & pledging
Commitments is a new feature that enables your team to track pledged donations, apply incoming donations toward those pledges, and charge remaining balances. If you're spending too much time tracking down and collecting promised gifts, Commitments is for you.
In-platform payment processing
You can now process a payment in platform using a supporter's payment method. This feature enables your team to easily process new donations or rerun failed payments on behalf of your donors.
Set an end date for a subscription
Subscriptions now have an optional end date that can be configured in platform.
Searchable autocomplete tagging
Supporter and transaction tags are now easier to manage, and you can reuse common tags with a new universal tag search and autocomplete feature.
New bulk import entities
You can now bulk import additional record types, including Orders, Attachments, Supporter Interactions, Tasks, and Supporter Notes.
Coming Soon
Ticket promo codes 🎉
You’ll soon be able to configure ticket promo and discount codes. Promo codes let you create custom entries like TAKE10 or VOLUNTEER, and apply either a percentage-based or fixed-amount discount to ticket prices.
Stripe fees visible in platform
Stripe processing fees will soon be visible directly in Funraise. A new chart will provide greater transparency into donor fee coverage and per-transaction costs, along with helpful context like Net Amount and fee efficiency.
Ticket bundles / sponsorship tickets
This update introduces the ability to sell tickets that bundle multiple registrations into a single transaction. It’s especially useful for sponsorship packages or group purchases, such as tables that include multiple guest registrations.
General Updates
Update to Donors Cover Fees
The behavior of Donors Cover Fees is changing in April 2026.
What's not changing
Donors Cover Fees (Custom) for organizations with a Flat Rate Platform Fee is not changing. This update only impacts Donors Cover Fees.
Your effective platform fee rate will remain at 0%. A platform fee is only assessed if the donor covers fees. If a donor does not cover fees, a platform fee is not assessed.
What's changing
Default fee coverage percentages will be dynamic, based on the transaction amount.
Content in the fee coverage area will be updated.
When a donor covers fees, Funraise will assess a platform fee based on the higher of:
the
default fee coverage percentage minus 3%orthe
donor-selected fee coverage percentage minus 3%.
You will still receive the remainder (usually 3%) to help cover processing fees.
Premium plans can choose their fee model
This has always been the case, but it's a good reminder! Organizations on a premium plan have full control of the fee model they use and the fee model can be updated at any time. If you have questions about your fee model or would like to change your organization's fee model, contact your Growth Partner.
Why the changes
Funraise's Donor Cover Fees model has been incredibly successful and popular with both organizations and donors—about 90% of donors choose to help cover fees. As we continue to enhance the model, we're introducing adjustments to improve transparency to donors about how fee coverage is used, as well as increase the impact of the fee coverage model for the organizations that use it.
A primary goal of any change we make to this feature is to ensure that donors continue to opt in at a high rate, maintaining the sustainability of this model and ensuring organizations continue to receive coverage to offset processing fees while benefiting from an ever-improving, secure fundraising platform.
