Content moderation helps you keep your community positive, safe, and free from spam — specifically, content on your peer-to-peer campaign sites.
Why is content moderation necessary?
Anytime you provide the ability to add public pages or content to the internet, it's likely to be abused. This can happen when users add inappropriate content or when when bad actors create spam pages in an effort to manipulate search results, for example.
Peer-to-Peer campaign pages are a great example of the risk. Campaign Sites with peer-to-peer activated offer a way for anyone on the internet to create a page and add content, creating a potential vector for inappropriate or abusive content.
Automated content moderation
Funraise's automated content moderation is primarily focused on mitigating inappropriate or abusive content on Peer-to-Peer fundraising pages. This moderation happens behind the scenes using Artificial Intelligence to review and identify content issues in real-time.
When content submitted by a user is flagged as inappropriate, the user will see an error message and will not be able to create or update the page with that content.
Today, content moderation is active for text content on peer-to-peer page creates and edits. Please note that images or other areas where text content can be submitted, like a donation comment, is not yet under moderation.
Adjust content moderation
You can configure the strictness of your organization's content moderation rules in Settings > Moderation.
Moderation settings
Setting | Description |
Low | Allows most content through, filtering only the most severe violations like threats or explicit hate speech. |
Medium | Strikes a balance between freedom and safety—removes clearly inappropriate language while allowing friendly banter and casual tone. |
High | Applies strict moderation to flag even borderline content—best for campaigns that require a family-safe or brand-sensitive environment. |
Keep in mind, this is an automated AI tool — it's possible for the tool to miss inappropriate content or flag content incorrectly. The goal of the automated content moderation tool is to mitigate inappropriate content and keep your community positive, safe, and spam free without impacting the fundraiser experience or creating more work (manual reviews) for your team.
